Looking back, she says, “I was so heartbroken.”
In the midst of that heartbreak, walking the streets, she remembered the Drop-In Home someone had told her about and started visiting. When she came, there was no judgment and no condemnation for her, only love and support. She vividly described what it was like to walk in with the smell of the streets and drugs coming off her, and have someone embrace her in a warm hug without hesitation. She told me there was just so much love in the house. She said, “It was like I could just relax just for a minute. Just enough to get me through another day.”
Since then, this woman has found a newfound freedom, but we know there are more out there.
